MetOcean Solutions is proud to announce that SwellMap, our free marine recreational forecast website, has provided high-resolution forecasts to users for 15 years. Launched in 2006, SwellMap was New Zealand's first marine forecast website dedicated to recreational users.

La Niña confirmed for New Zealand
Numerical modelling by MetOcean Solutions Research and Development team is being used to track the impact of the predicted La Niña conditions on New Zealand’s waters. La Niña brings a tendency for warmer than average ocean and air temperatures for New Zealand once it becomes established.
Drifting wave buoys pass the Drake passage
In February 2018, MetOcean Solutions deployed five solar powered wave buoys (Spotters) in the Southern Ocean in partnership with Spoondrift and the Defence Technology Agency. Now, one year later, these buoys have travelled more than 6500 km and are currently crossing the stormy waters of the Drake Passage, the body of water between South America’s Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands.
Tracking a lost sailing yacht
At the end of October, MetOcean Solutions helped an insurance company find a missing yacht that had been drifting for weeks in the Atlantic Ocean.
