We’re excited to welcome Alex Ushakov to the MetOcean Solutions team

MetOcean Solutions is delighted to welcome Alex Ushakov to the team. Alex will be joining us as a Scientific Systems Engineer. Originally from Kazakhstan, Alex started his career as an Engineer-Physicist at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kazakhstan. However, his career changed course as he discovered his passion for information technologies (IT), especially computer networks. At MetOcean Solutions he will be using almost a decade of experience as a Network Engineer and System Integrator to tackle a huge range of IT tasks, from networking to containerisation. “Alex’s depth of experience will be a huge asset, and his work will be essential to the smooth running and development of system capability at MetOcean Solutions,” says Senior Developer Greg Chalmers.

“I am very happy to join MetOcean Solutions. It is a huge privilege to work as a part of a highly professional team, and at the same time, to meet incredible people truly passionate about their field and work. I am excited be involved with such a wide spectrum of knowledge from IT to Oceanography, and to contribute all I can to the development of the company."

Alex moved to New Zealand in 2017 to experience life in a new country. Growing up he spent a lot of time in the mountains, a place where he feels free. As an avid sports fan, Alex is attracted to the active lifestyle in New Zealand and loves the abundance of nature and beautiful landscapes. He is particularly excited to have the Tasman Sea as his new playground “I have never lived near to the ocean before, the only surfing I have ever done is dirt surfing, so I’m excited to be living in Raglan and to finally give surfing a go.”
