Considering deploying wave or tidal energy farms, planning infrastructure or even assessing design parameters for devices? MSL presented on the marine energy resource available around New Zealand at the national marine energy conference. Dr Dave Johnson analysed the available wave and current energy around the country. Heading towards a full marine energy resource atlas for New Zealand, he discussed the different marine energy conditions around the country and how they suited a number of different device profiles, as well as providing examples of the amount of energy that can expect to be generated. As with other MSL analyses, the techniques described of course can be applied anywhere around the globe.
